History Department
The department of History at SDM PUC has been functioning in the academic as well as conservation spheres since its inception.One of the hallmarks of the department since its inception is its contribution in deciphering the inscriptions available locally. Under the guidance of faculty, the students are taken to field-studies of historical sites. Department also conducts Technology enabled classes which encourages students to participate in seminars and presentations.
Associations and Activities
The Departmental association ‘Historica’ encourages students to participate in the activities of literary and cultural extension. The following activities are conducted by the leaders of the association-
- Every year the association organises a week long programme on creating awareness about our traditions and conservation of historical monuments
- Visit to historical sites and organically studying monuments.
- Arranging special guest lectures on allied subjects of History like Epigraphy and Archaeology.
